Here is a whistle stop tour through our itinerary of our most recent Japan trip, April 6-23 2017

Day 1: Tokyo- land Narita airport at 8:30am, travel to Ueno -> Asakusa, Sumida Park, Skytree, Chidorigafuchi in the evening

Day 2: Tokyo – Ueno park for hanami, Shibuya for Genki Sushi, Shibuya park, Yoyogi park, Harajuku, Meguro river for hanami, Asakusa senso-ji at night for yozakura hanami

Day 3: Matsumoto – travel to Matsumoto castle, Ueno koen for night time hanami, pack to leave Tokyo

Day 4: Shinkansen to Kyoto -> Fushimi Inari Taisha, bamboo forest, Kyoto canal

Day 5: Hikone castle for hanami, sunset on the top of Kyoto station, Fushimi Inari hike after dark

Day 6: Travel to Hiroshima -> stop at Himeji castle, travel to Hiroshima, visit atomic bomb dome and Hiroshima castle at night

Day 7: Travel to Miyajima island -> Hike up Mt Misen, travel back to Kyoto

Day 8: Travel to Mie prefecture -> Akame 48 waterfalls hike, Nara deer park, Todaiji temple, yaki niku for dinner, back to Kyoto

Day 9: Travel to Hachioji -> Climb Mt Takao

Day 10: Travel to Kawaguchi-ko (arrive at 9am) -> walk to Kawaguchi-ko, 1/2 day structured tour to Shiraito falls, Aokigahara, Motosu-ko, Shojiko, Oishi Park

Day 11: Up at 4am for sunrise, walk over Ohashi bridge to small shrine on Kawaguchiko, get hire car (Toyota Rent a Car), Chureito pagoda, Motosuko, Shojiko, Saiko, Oishi park. Sunset on Mt Komitake

Day 12: Up at 4am for sunrise at Oishi park, Yamanakako, Gotemba Premium Outlet, Murayama shrine, Shiraito Falls, Motosuko, Kawaguchiko

Day 13: Up at 3am for sunrise, Tanukiko (0 visibility), Jimba no taki (waterfall), suspension bridge Nebara, Tanukiko (mist has gone), Oishi park, sakura corridor on North shore at night

Day 14: Chureito Pagoda at 6am (cloudy), Oshino hakkai, sunset at Chureito Pagoda

Day 15: Up at 3am for sunrise, cruise on Kawaguchiko, Kachi Kachi ropeway, to Fuji view hotel

Day 16: Up at 4am for sunrise, explore southern end of Kawaguchiko, walk to Oishi park, souvenir shopping

Day 17: Up at 3am for sunrise, train to Fuji Sengen shrine, train to Shinjuku then to Narita. Naritasan temple

Day 18: Explore Narita airport, fly home
